What Bay Roberts is actually like
Bay Roberts is the service hub of Conception Bay North: you can do a full week of errands — groceries, pharmacy, hardware, banking, the liquor store, a sit-down supper — without leaving town, then be standing on a headland trail ten minutes later. It draws young families and remote workers who want a real town, not a bedroom suburb.

History and heritage
Settled for the fishing grounds, not the view
Settlement began in the late 1500s at Juggler's Cove, then French's Cove — coves chosen for their closeness to the fishing grounds and their flat rock beaches, where fish could be sun-cured without building flakes. Both settlements were plundered and burned by the French under d'Iberville in 1697, and again in 1705.
Cable Avenue and the transatlantic cable
Bay Roberts' later prosperity ran through the cable station and the salt fish trade. Cable Avenue has since been declared a Municipal Heritage District, and the Bay Roberts Heritage Society — founded in 1989 — has worked since to preserve what survives of the town's cable-era and fishery-era buildings.
- Shoreline Heritage Walk — restored rock walls, cart paths, root cellars and interpretive panels through the abandoned coves; winner of the Historic Sites Association's Manning Award of Excellence in 2002
- Cable Avenue Municipal Heritage District
- Bay Roberts Heritage Society exhibits and archives
