Named by Channel Island fishermen

The name Spaniard's Bay traces back to fishermen from Jersey who came to fish these shores from the Channel Islands. It is the largest bay in Conception Bay North, sitting on Route 70 along the Baccalieu Trail.

Incorporated 1965, amalgamated with Tilton in 1991

The Town of Spaniard's Bay was incorporated as a municipality on June 8, 1965, and the neighbouring community of Tilton became part of the new municipality in 1991. Population sits steady around 2,694.
